CALL FOR DIRECTORS — 2027 SEASON
Brooks Productions is now accepting directing proposals for our 2027 season!
We’re looking for creative, collaborative directors with a story they want to tell. Whether there’s a play you’ve always wanted to direct, a musical you think deserves another life, or something completely unexpected, we want to hear your vision. Brooks Productions is built around creativity, collaboration, and community. We welcome experienced directors as well as emerging directors ready to take the next step.
Our Space
Part of the fun and the challenge of directing with Brooks Productions is our performance space.
Our primary stage is located in a non-conventional social hall setting and measures approximately 28' wide × 16' deep. Directors should be comfortable thinking creatively about scenery, staging, entrances and exits, audience configuration, and how to make the most of an intimate space.
Don't let the size of the stage limit the size of your idea.
For productions that need something different, directors may also propose using the larger sanctuary space, opening up additional possibilities for staging and audience experience.
We’re interested in directors who can look at an unconventional space and ask:
“What can I create here?”
What Can I Submit?
We’re open to a wide range of ideas for the 2027 season, including plays, musicals, comedies, dramas, classics, contemporary works, small-cast shows, family productions, and other creative theatrical experiences.
You are welcome and encouraged to submit more than one show for consideration.
When choosing a production, consider the audience, casting needs, technical requirements, licensing availability, and how your concept might work within our performance spaces.
What Should My Proposal Include?
Please submit:
- Proposed show title(s)
- A current theatrical résumé
- Your Director’s Vision
Your Director’s Vision does not need to be a massive proposal or finished production book. Tell us why you want to direct the show, what draws you to the story, what you want an audience to experience, and how you imagine approaching the production.
What We're Looking For
Brooks Productions values directors who understand that theatre is collaborative.
We’re looking for individuals who can lead a room while also listening to their actors, designers, technicians, volunteers, and production team. Directors should be organized, communicative, respectful of the rehearsal process, and willing to adapt when working within the realities of community theatre.
